Week of September 25 2016 to October 1 2016: The First Vision

Dear Sisters,

We are so excited to embark on a journey of reading, writing, discovery, and faith with you!  The theme of this year's reading is "Strength Through Stories: Can Ye Feel So Now?"  Drawn from Alma 5, the question "Can ye feel so now?" is a challenge for us to reflect on our past, our family's past, and even the past of our communities, to draw strength and insight, and then reflect on and document our thoughts, feelings, questions, and insights in our present lives.

A few details about our reading and writing this year:

  1. We will not be reading the entire Book of Mormon, but rather we will focus on key selected sections.  The weekly reading load from The Book of Mormon will be about seven pages.
  2. There will also be weekly reading from Our Heritage.
  3. There are frequent opportunities to explore video, audio, and other resources online at lds.org.
  4. Finally, do take the challenge to write at least once a week!  You will have amazing experiences as you do!
This week's journey:

Read:

Joseph Smith History, verses 1-74 (Also on the LDS Library app under Pearl of Great Price)
Our Heritage, pages 1-4 (Also on the LDS Library app)

When did you first learn about the first vision?  Record your thoughts and impressions at that time and your thoughts and impressions now.

If you would like a paper copy of Our Heritage and/or a composition book, please contact your Relief Society president or a member of the Stake Relief Society presidency.  We will be ordering more and they should be available in a week or so!

We look forward to studying, pondering, writing, and discovering with you.

With love,
